Eniscope Solutions Reduce CityBlue Creekside Hotel’s Energy Bills by 15%

Best.Energy Kenya take on the hospitality sector in the East African market to deliver high-impact results and prompt long-term behavioral change.

Energy demand is overgrowing in various sectors across Kenya and with a low supply of power, energy efficiency will play an essential role. With progressive investment in power production, Kenya power outages account for a loss amounting to 53,407.93 USD per business. CityBlue Creekside were seeing high electricity and heating bills and wanted a solution and fast.

The Result

Best.Energy Kenya wasted no time in addressing the issue and teamed up with the CityBlue, a hospitality chain operating in 7 locations across Sub-Saharan Africa, to rectify consumption levels and save themoney on their energy bills.

After the initial monitoring phase, Eniscope’s real-time data revealed that waste was particularly acute in the kitchen, conference rooms, mini-fridges, HVAC and illumination. The team converted all lights to LED, installed a main voltage stabiliser for the entire facility, installed a voltage optimizer on the lift system and delivered behavioral training, reducing consumption right down to the toasters and televisions.

After getting to work on voltage stabilizing and delivering behavioral change training, within just 4 short months, the client saw some great results.

  • Total energy visibility across the site down to the asset level - identifying waste
  • ROI in 3 years
  • Projected annual savings of around 13%, equivalent to $18,000 to $20,000
  • No upfront costs or unexpected bills

A Closer Look

Where did some of these energy savings actually come from? Take a look at the graph below.

The graph shows the voltage use over time. In the middle of March, Best.Energy Kenya installed a voltage optimiser, and weeks later installed a voltage stabilizer. Between the two, the effect shows that the total voltage being used is greatly reduced on the kitchen site through the equipment.

So what does that mean? That less energy is being used and no additional damage to the equipment is created via the energy spikes, helping it last longer and require less frequent maintenance.
